Had a meeting with the other Monbusho fellows, former fellows and the Japanese consul. I finally received the flight tickets. The consul invited us over to his house for dinner, and we talked a lot about Japanese and Brazilian culture, our research projects in Japan, among others.

I'm almost done reading "The Predictors". This book has turned my attention to cellular automata once more. I found this "Introduction on cellular automata" which has some interesting references, including one on using CA's as an alternative to differential equations. Let's see if there's something interesting in this direction.
